As a child in the early 1960's my parents took us to the Fox Chain many times to enjoy a day of boating and fishing. At age 13, they purchased a resort on Pistakee Lake and one of my responsibilities was renting rowboats to fisherman. I didn't consider myself lucky back then but the knowledge that I gained is treasured to this day. I was also lucky enough to use my fathers 9 1/2 hp evinrude to get out on the water when the resort was closed. I spent many a day cruising the back channels and fishing the hot spots that fisherman would share with me. The lakes have changed in some ways but in others, it seems they haven't changed at all. Weekend boat traffic is still heavy but many of the same fishing spots I fished years ago are still productive. The water quality has improved and so has the fishery. A walleye was tough to find in the 60's and 70's but good management by the DNR and the introduction of C&R fishing has made the Chain a walleye hot spot. Many other specie are larger and more populated now than back then. The Chain also boasts a great Muskie fishery as well. I can only hope that we can conserve and protect this great resource with our current regulations and good common sense.

Maria, my wife is the real fisherperson in the family. She enjoys getting on the water and making our trips to the northwoods. Although she also enjoys walleye fishing, her favorite catch and table fair is perch. It never fails that before the day is over she has either caught more or bigger fish than the guide himself. This family business could not exist without her dedication and hard work.

This picture is made from a few taken many years ago showing my Father and myself with some fishing memories on the Fox Chain. My Father and Mother have both passed on.
With great respect, I dedicate this site in their memory.
